Bala Venkatesh Varma already worked in the diplomatic representation of India in the Russian Federation, and, for the first time, he arrived in Moscow in February 1990, and witnessed the end of the Soviet Union. His second visit came in August 2000, and now, after 18 years, he was back in Moscow, but already at the head of the Indian diplomatic mission. During the conversation in the editorial office of the RG, the ambassador admitted that, in his opinion, no country in the world is of such political interest as Russia. In addition, Ambassador Bala Venkatesh Varma considers Moscow to be a beautiful city, noting the warmth of the Russian people, their friendly attitude towards the Indians. During the meeting, he admitted that for a diplomat to work in Russia is happiness, and that his family was also pleased with the new visit to Moscow.
According to the head of the Indian diplomatic mission, Russia occupies a special place in India’s foreign policy. Confirmation of the special relations between the two countries is the official visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to New Delhi in early October, where he met with his colleague Ram Nath Kovind, as well as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In addition, by the end of 2018, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu are expected to visit India.
